I love Hotwire!
We frequently don’t book flights on Hotwire because we need specific travel times (Hotwire will only give you a range). We almost always book hotels with them. We have stayed in fabulous 4 and 5 star hotels for a 70-80% discount from pubished rates.
Although they don’t tell you specifically the hotel you are purchasing, they give you info on amenities, location, and customer ratings (based on a 5 star system). The only downside is not specifcally knowing your hotel, having to pay everything up front, and not being able to receive any refunds. However, I think it is totally worth the risk. An example: we stayed in Chicago at a hotel off Michigan Ave that normally went for $250/ night. We paid $89/night with Hotwire.
