I Want My Tickets Now

In my continuing effort to ensure that you, the naive consumer, have the most information at hand in order to make your expensive ticket purchase, I bring you, my review on TicketsNow.com.

What Is Tickets Now?
Tickets Now, as you may have suspected, is a legitimate ticket broker that has operated out of Illinois since 1992. They are a member of NATB (National Association of Ticket Brokers) and members of the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

Why even tell you this? Because. I think it’s very important for you to understand that there are ticket brokers who operate with a definite set of ethics and ones who operate as shady weenies.

It Sucks For These People
If you live in New York or New Jersey, they cannot sell you tickets to any events that occur in either of those states. But hey, if you live in Kentucky and want to see Celine Dion in New York, no problem!

The Web Site
I like many things about Tickets Now but one of the cooler things is their web site.

Their home page is uncluttered. To the left is a list of some of the popular events. At the very top is a search bar where you can inquire by event or venue. The rest of the page is sparsely filled with pictures of 3-5 main events.

Right above the search bar are (what I call) index card type pages. If you click on tickets, you are taken to a page that allows you to search by location, date, event, venue, or your “own” personal search criteria. This last option requires you to set up an account and answer some questions.

Almost always, I go in by venue. They have a convenient pull down menu of all of the venues that they have tickets for. After selecting your venue, you are taken to another pull down menu where you get to pick up event you want to look at tickets for.

Once you pick your event, Tickets Now shows you all of their available inventory. Like many ticket brokers, they share a common database so the ticket that you may buy from them might not be one that they necessarily acquired on their own. Have no fear though. This database is only for licensed ticket brokers.

One of the down sides of Tickets Now (and this is true for 99% of the online ticket brokers) is that you cannot purchase an odd number of tickets. For example, if they tell you that they have 4 Dave Matthews Band tickets in stock, you can choose to buy 2 or 4, not 1 or 3.

The good side is that Tickets Now is extremely detailed in their inventory. At Verizon Music Center here in Indy, there are some seats that are considered “VIP” which means that they come with a special parking pass and access to the venue’s restaurant. They are always sure to add in that information to the seat location. For some people those perks make all of the difference in how much they are willing to pay for their tickets.

When you’re ready to select your tickets, you just add them to your cart and check out. Your requested ticket information is summarized, along with your total price for purchase and your total price for shipping. You can upgrade your shipping here. Also, there is a little box on the form that you could choose to check. It authorizes Tickets Now, in the event that the tickets you purchased are not available, to move you into equivalent or better seats if they are available for the same price. For me, I would probably choose this option if tickets were going extremely fast for the event.

You enter all of your demographic information, including how you intend on paying for it. After it is sent, you receive a confirmation email to your inbox.

Pricing
Although not the cheapest people on the block, I find that the charges for tickets from Tickets Now are moderately reasonable compared to other reputable online ticket brokers.

Payment Options
Tickets Now accepts credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and the JCB Card), Cash (if you deliver it in person to their office), Check/Money Order, and Wire Transfer.

Shipping Rates
Everywhere but Alaska and Hawaii, you’re looking at anywhere from $9.95 to $20 depending on the option you choose. All packages require a signature.

Deals
If you’re a regular customer of eBay, then check out Tickets Now auctions. From time to time, there are auctions that occur for tickets to just about any event and chances are, they’ll go for a lesser price in the auction then if you purchased them on the web site.

Cancellation/Postponement Policy
This is one of the things I really like about Tickets Now.

If your event is cancelled, Tickets Now will issue you a full refund (minus any shipping charges).

If your event is postponed, Tickets Now offers you the option of giving it back to them and they would refund your money based upon what they can get for it. So if you paid $100 for a baseball ticket and if Tickets Now sold it for $90, you would get $90. Ah! But if they sell it for more, you don’t make a profit from it, they do :) .

Contacting Tickets Now
Unlike many other ticket brokers, Tickets Now provides you with a ton of people – not generic mailboxes – that you can contact. Sure, you could send your question to a generic email box, but you could also send it to a real person with a real name and a real job title.

If you don’t like emailing, you can always pick up the phone and call their toll free number.

Be A Member!
This is one of the coolest features. If you sign up to be a member – no cost – you can customize your membership so that Tickets Now since you alerts when they receive tickets for an event, venue, date, location, etc….so that you just about get first pick at their inventory! It sure saves you time from having to go to their web site daily.

Am I A Satisfied Customer?
Absolutely. Not once in my years of dealing with this broker have I had issues with wrong tickets being sent, fraudulent tickets issued, or even poor customer service. I have used them on both a personal level (ahem guess which concerts) and on a professional level, in order to acquire tickets for some VIP clients of ours. Two enthusiastic flik my bik lighters up!
